Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Birthday Party!

July 31st

We threw a big 1st Birthday party for Little Miss Charlotte and her friends here in NH (party one of two). I had so many plans and ideas in mind and couldn't wait to do them all. It was a lot of work, but so worth it to celebrate the first year we've shared with Charlie - she is the best!

July Fun!

July has been a crazy month, with a busy schedule. TWO weddings, much time in Vermont, the 4th festivities, visitors here in NH, a Moms night out for me, a canoeing trip for Aaron, play groups for Charlie, ice cream socials, dominoes with our neighbors, and planning Charlie's birthday parties through it all! Phew!

We happened to be in Vermont this year for Grandma Allard's 86th Birthday. We stopped in for a birthday visit and she loved seeing Charlotte.

~~~~~~~~~~
Nanny & Papa's pool was open and ready, so we jumped in for some fun and a break from the heat and humidity. Charlotte enjoys just floating around in her float, but she also loves to be thrown into the air and be caught with a big splash in the water. She's a swimmer, for sure.
~~~~~~~~~~
We spent so much time in the car back and forth between Vermont during July. Charlie does well in the car (and we usually just travel at her bedtime so she sleeps the whole way) but sometimes she's just had enough. She likes when I climb in the back and ride with her.

Enjoying her library book
~~~~~~~~~~
Through all of the traveling, we did manage to have some fun here at home. Charlie's always happy to come back from a trip and play with her toys.
~~~~~~~~~~
GUESS WHO'S WALKING??!!!! That's right, at the end of June, she started practicing those steps and after a few weeks, she was walking about 90% of the time! It's official - she's a big girl. :-(
~~~~~~~~~~
We always have a barrette in Charlie's hair to keep it out of her eyes as the front keeps getting longer. But after finding her with a barrette in her mouth a few times now, it was time to bring on the rubber bands. While I had her in her high chair one day for lunch, I decided to give it a shot.
The cute single whale spout
The double pigtails - she looked so cute that I laughed out loud ...
She did NOT like me laughing at her cuteness
Oreos are YUMMY
"Mommy, you're going to let me eat THIS?"
It's goooood!
~~~~~~~~~~

Charlie loves rides in her wagon - just around the driveway, around our circle, out to pick blackberries across the street, down to the pond to see the ducks ... anywhere - it doesn't matter as long as she gets a ride. She also enjoys sharing rides in it with her friend Rylee. One day, we packed up some toys and headed around the circle for an ice cream social. They are too cute. They're only a few months apart and we can't wait until they start to interact a bit more - they'll be great friends.

What a month - here's to August settling down (we hope!)

Shawn & Kristy's "Barbecue"

July 10, 2010

We were invited to a barbecue at Shawn & Kristy's house and weren't sure we were going to make it back to Vermont after having spent so much time up there already. Kristy pushed a bit and said she REALLY wanted us to be there since everyone else was able to make it. (She was even offering me one of her spare cars to use if I stayed up there with Charlie!) We decided to go since she wanted us there so bad, and boy are we glad we went!!!

When we arrived, she told us they did indeed have an announcement and told us they were engaged! She then handed us a wedding invitation stating that they would be getting married at 6:30pm on July 10th ... it WAS July 10th. WOW. Everyone was very excited for them and happy to be a part of it.

What a GREAT day!

Texas Visitors

July 5th-7th

JP and Megan were up from Dallas and spending time in Boston before a wedding they were attending, so they decided to come up to NH for a visit as well! We hadn't seen JP since June of 2008 and were also excited to meet Megan for the first time.

We started their short visit with a dinner at The Common Man and a stop at a creemee stand, of course!

They enjoyed riding around to see some sites - Concord, Hampton Beach, some of the Maine coast and the Kittery Outlets. Along the way, they enjoyed trying a couple of lobster rolls (one of which was $18!!!!) and were stuffed with lobster by the time they left.

JP was great entertainment for Charlie in the car

We had lunch on the beach in Hampton and it was around 100 degrees with high humidity. We got a water for Charlie and she was excited to have a "big girl" cup.

She also tried a lemon ... haha!

And realized she actually liked it.

The Maine coast

On the way to the outlets, we found a giant chair and decided to stop for some pics. It was so big it made even Aaron and JP look small!

It was a great visit with them and we can't wait to see them again - possibly in November if we go to NYC to watch JP run in the marathon.
