Holiday Fun, Christmas in NH and VT and Fun in the Snow!
Since I've fallen so far behind on this blog (got a bit overwhelmed over the Christmas Holiday), I figure the easiest thing to do is post a blurb and a few of my favorite pictures from each holiday event. We were SO busy in December and had so much fun celebrating with our neighbors, friends and family.

She was SO happy to play with them when they did arrive.
First, we gathered around the food -
Then we started the junk swap entertainment -
Now we'll have to start thinking about something fun to do for our Bowler 2011 gathering.
December 18th - Blue Christmas Yankee Swap - One of the couples in the neighborhood throws a Yankee Swap party each year and this year's theme was "Blue Christmas", so the gift had to be blue. I, of course, stressed over what to get (something serious, something useful, something funny or a straight -up joke?) We settled on something nice and useful, but quickly realized that the theme was more funny and/or alcohol or liquor-based! It was lots of fun and lots of laughs (and our first night "hiring" a babysitter - my cousin Beth!)

December 23rd - Charlie's "Christmas Morning" - Since we were heading to Vermont to spend actual Christmas Eve and Christmas Day up there, we played Christmas morning here for Charlie the morning we left.
She was SO excited to see a new play kitchen down here in the living room, just like the one she plays with at Nini Bambini (her music class) but in pink and white. She went straight to playing with that, so she wasn't even interested in opening anything else! We had to show her that there were more gifts and some of them were the foods and pots for the kitchen.

December 23rd-27th - Vermont Christmas - Once we got to Vermont, Charlie was so excited to see her cousins. But since they all had to spend time with their other families as well, she waited and waited ... and waited.

We all exchanged gifts - the kids were spoiled, as usual. Grandpa Bowler joined us again this year for some food and opening of the gifts too. And we had another successful homemade Christmas swap. Such creative gifts!
The cousins all had fun together - especially Trey and Luke, who put on quite the wrestling show for the rest of us! But in the end, they're still good buddies.

December 26th - Bowler Family Christmas - We were able to get most of the Bowler clan together again this year and decided to do a Get-Rid-of-Your-Junk Yankee Swap. We asked each person to find something around their house that they didn't want anymore, wrap it up and bring it to swap. We had lots of junk, lots of laughs, and the Senesac house ended up with most of it!! They may not allow any of us back next year!

Snow Much Fun - Charlotte LOVED to play outside in the snow. Whenever we bundled her up in her adorable (hand-me-down) ski pants, she got excited. And when we got cold and wanted to come inside, she didn't care - she could have stayed out in the snow forever. I can't wait until she's old enough to be excited to come in for hot cocoa! :)

A Visit From Uncle Jesse
December 9th-12th
Uncle Jesse came for a visit and spent some time doing Christmas-y things with Aaron and Charlie. They went to check out some Christmas lights and decorate (or eat frosting off of!) Christmas cookies.
Charlie enjoyed time with him!

Picking out our Family Christmas Tree / Santa's Workshop
December 5th - Picking out our Family Christmas Tree
We hit up good ol' Faulkner's up the road to pick out our tree this year. They are super friendly and we've spoken with Brian who works there a couple of times (we WILL work on our front gardens someday!) They had a ton of trees to choose from and Little Miss Charlie had too much fun running around and through them really fast.
I think we made a pretty good choice - and it looked great next to the finally-done fireplace this year!
We even set up Charlie's little tree (our old apartment tree) in her room again this year.
December 8th - Santa's Workshop
Another great (free!) Christmas event here in our town is Santa's Workshop, which they do at a local storage company. We didn't know what to expect - I thought it was outside, so I didn't worry too much about what Charlie was wearing under her coat. We met up with the rest of our neighborhood at and all caravanned down together. We stood in line for a bit as we waited for the doors to open and went into the house to experience an adorable little workshop setup. Santa was sitting in his rocking chair, waiting for the visits from the kids; elves were demonstrating how they make their toys; they had little craft tables set up for the kids; Mrs. Claus was walking around greeting the children, and they even had a toy closet where kids could go and pick out a toy!
Our first stop was the visit to Santa (again, please don't pay any attention to her outfit ... though it IS purple!) She did very well with him this time!!

Visiting Santa
December 4th
We were excited to find out that the place we go to each week for a fun music class was having Santa come visit! So on this Saturday, we had our appointment and were very excited for Charlie's visit with him this year. (Last year was easy, at only 3 months old, she sat on his lap without a problem. This year, it could have gone either way ...)
When we got off the elevator, we headed right to go into Nini Bambini. Charlie looked to the left and spotted Santa down the hall. We went in and took off our coats and she played with the kitchen for a bit before she realized the door was open - so she went out and down the hall - straight toward Santa. This was a good sign.
When it was Charlie's turn we tried to set her on Santa's lap, she wasn't too into that.
When we told her that if she sits with him, she can get a candy cane, she was all about it. Well, after getting the candy cane, she tried to get down - I mean, she got the goods, it was time to go ... right? But after a minute, she realized it wasn't so bad, and actually got comfortable.
We got some good photos and were happy she enjoyed the visit in the end. Thanks Santa!

They tried to set her on a rocking horse in front of him for some photos, but she didn't like that very much either. I sat on the arm of the chair with her and she was *okay* with that for a minute as she checked him out and he handed her some bells ... but then wanted to get down.
